Strategic Slacker

Alright, let's be real—you've turned slacking into an art form, and you're looking to skate through school with the bare minimum. Well, guess what? Here's your almost-like-a-cheat-code guide to passing without breaking a sweat.

If you're gonna do just one thing each day, make sure it's jotting down whatever your teacher says is gonna be on the exam. Too lazy? No worries, just get those notes from a friend. Trust us, this small move is a game changer.

Science is a Must, No Excuses

  • Stick to the Plan: Hit those definitions and theorems every week. Skip this, and you’ll drown in a pileup of class material before you know it. In addition you will start racking up what we call homework debt, the definition you don’t study enough today can come haunt you in a few years.

The 30-20-10 Hack:

  • This hack will save you a ton of time when exams hit.

  • First step of the hack is to know what you actually ,must duty jut bit now an wha you might be okay leaving out entirely. Go through all your course material of the week using the 30 Rule.

  • The 30 Rule: Ask yourself, "If I were to make flashcards for this entire class, would it be more than 30 cards?" If yes, you move on to the 20 Rule. If not skip it with less risk until the exam get closer (cf next tip).

  • The 20 Rule: Spend 20 minutes reading and logging the content in ThunderMemo. If you don’t have the app highlight but we strongly encourage you to use it. According to our experience, 20 minutes is the sweet spot to make a dent even in lengthy course materials. This means you get a whole calendar done with no work on your end. Once that is done, move on to the 10 Rule (on ThunderMemo this will happen automatically).

  • The 10 Rule: Review what you highlighted or, in case you logged it on ThunderMemo, one round of games and you're DONE.

    Rinse, repeat.

Exam Time *

If you've been a crammer so far and you still want to be one, it means one thing without a doubt: you have an uncanny ability to commit items to your short-term memory. The goal here is to maximize that skill effectively, allowing you to pass by spending the least amount of time studying and starting as late as possible.

What is the maximum time to leave before starting to study for an exam without it becoming an impossible task?

Science: Ideally, give yourself 2 weekends. Start on weekend 1, work through the week, and then review on weekend 2. We've perfected this method and call it the "sandwich method.

At worst: 5 days. If you want to do less than that, it would mean you’ve got all the practice problems ahead of time. If not, don’t push your luck.

Non-scientific subjects with heavy memorization: one week is totally manageable with ThunderMemo calendar (promo code at the bottom). If you have some extra coins, get the pre-made sets and save 3 days!

Non-scientific subjects without too much memorization: One weekend is enough to cover the basics and get a good grasp of the content.
